Topps produced yet another masterpiece of a card with it’s 1952 Topps Roy Campanella #314 card. Roy was not only of the greatest catchers to ever play the game, but he was also one of the most loved players by the fans. He would go on to win three MVP awards in his career, the same number that crosstown rivals Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra each won.
This card is the third out of four 1952 Topps cards in a row to be named to the top 200 sportscards by PSA, following #311 Mantle, #312 Robinson and then skipping #313 before reaching Campy’s card. The card itself shows a side proflle of Roy (actually at about a 45 degree angle) from the shoulders up, with Roy glancing towards the left of the card and smiling. This card is no exception to the 1952 Topps rule of being almost impossible to find in mint condition. Just another great card from a great set.
